πŸ“ Where are you?

Do you remember the last time you felt terribly lost?

I find there is a similar feeling whether I recall a time I was lost on a hiking trail or the times I've been lost psychically - like when I was a learning to be a mom and struggling professionally.

In those moments I feel desperation mixed with obsessive alertness. (Charming.)

One of the most acute forms of mental suffering is disorientation.

When we don't understand our location, it's very difficult to imagine making successful progress to better our situation.

We don't trust ourselves to make decisions. And we are quick to doubt the choices we do make.

For this reason, the starting point of so many powerful transformative journeys (and successful hikes πŸ˜†) is to figure out where the hell you are!

I'm a bit of a collector of internal maps - the maps that help us make sense of our soul's journey.

One map I am particularly fond of, was popularized by one of my dearest teachers Martha Beck. She calls it the Human Change Cycle. It helps us understand the steps we move through during any significant period of change.

While I am presenting it as a map for a personal journey, it can also be used to help orient people to organizational change.

If you are interested, I have a very abbreviated outline of it below!

Much love,
