"I can feel you rushing."

At the risk of sounding creepy, I can feel you rushing ahead right now.

Ok, maybe it's not you personally.

Maybe it's just the vibe out there.

Maybe it's the vibe in here.

I can feel us launching ourselves into how we will make 2023 better than 2022.

But what if we all agreed to slow down just a moment.

Take one more day to experiment with celebrating how much you grew, changed...survived...in 2022.

  • What did you try?

  • What unknowns did you face?

  • What did you discover?

  • What teachers or guides showed up in your life?

  • What did you remember?

  • What did you let go of?

  • What 3 things are you really proud of?

When I really get rolling on this reflection I feel a rush of awe.

The magnitude of joys and sorrows and sheer confusion we are capable of processing as humans - I'm amazed.

The awe is quickly followed by discomfort.

We aren't encouraged to appreciate our lives in this way. It's "onward and upward" or "what's next?" or "thank god that's over!"

This is an invitation to get reacquainted with the feeling of being enough. Being truly full of your innate goodness.

As the psychologist Carl Rogers put it “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself, just as I am, then I can change.”

This paradox is not just about accepting that you are a people pleaser or judgemental or a little soft & squishy where you'd like to be toned... but also that you are inexplicably magical, brave, and resourceful too.

So would you be willing to experiment with me this week?

Take a day, or an hour, or the next 10 minutes - and just remember how truly incredible you are?

Love,

Marijke Ocean
