What feels true and certain right now?
In the small matters trust the mind, in the large ones the heart.
- Sigmund Freud
So here's a little thought exercise: What feels true and certain to you right now?
Here are some things clients recently felt were true and certain:
"This job is not in alignment with my values."
"I need to follow through on my commitment."
"I’ll should be working out more."
"My boss is lying."
"A good mother knows what her kid(s) need."
And the common question we explore together:
How do I know if I should trust this thought/feeling?
Is it wisdom? Is it fear? Is it an excuse? Or some inner truth I need to take seriously?
What I’ve found in my own life and working with clients is that on the surface limiting beliefs and core values BOTH feel true and certain.
And yet we sense that there is some difference.
So, how do you tell the difference between something that supports your wholeness and aliveness and something that holds you back?
My favorite tool to figure this out is not more talking, thinking, reading, polling, or hand wringing…tempting as those strategies are.
Instead, I recommend we get out of our heads and into the body.
Confused what this means? Or how to do it?
If you are puzzled, you are in good company.
I had to relearn how to do this after decades of relying almost exclusively on my thoughts to solve my problems & figure things out.
Occasionally I work with clients that are totally tuned into body-based, right-brain insight.
But more often, my clients are trying to rediscover this tool after years of relying on thoughts, words, and expertise (theirs & others!)...to figure things out.
We often begin with a a technique to re-calibrate and re-introduce physical signals of wellness & warning.
This is like recalibrating a compass inside your body that has the power to settle the paradoxes our thoughts cannot seem to unwind!
If you are stuck trying to figure out big decisions and impossible (seeming) questions - give it a try!

P.S. It’s so incredibly exciting and courageous to reignite the body’s wisdom. If you want some support as you navigate this new territory and integrate it into your life - give me a shout! I’d love to help!
